Framing the Story - what makes a good narrative

Here is an interesting radio show created by NPR from talks by Ted.com (an amazing website for inspiring talks and presentations on loads of interesting topics). This is about what makes a great story an is well worth listening to - particularly for A-Level and GCSE students.

American Literature - introductory reading

Hi Year 12,

Please see below a list of links to US short stories available to read online. They've been carefully selected by Mr Lakin and make a really good list of introductory reading to American Literature.

Enjoy!

GCSE World War One poetry - life in the trenches

Hi Year 10,

Here's a presentation to give you information about the historical context of WW1 poetry. This will help you understand what the soldiers were going through and the events that influenced the poetry we are about to study. On the prezi you will find writing tasks you need to complete to demonstrate you can empathise with the troops on the front line.

Good luck!

Ms Cook
